Coming out of nowhere to overtake the likes of Chelsea and Milan, Everton are on the verge of signing Bernard, currently a free agent after running down his contract with Shakhtar.
The forward, who was said to favour a move to Milan, was reported late on Monday as near a move to Goodison Park, and Foot Mercato on Tuesday believe that’s even closer, as the 25-year-old is currently undergoing his medical.
The French outlet believe Everton will make the deal official very soon, joining Richarlison as Marco Silva’s attacking recruits this summer, and will reportedly earn around €6m/year.
Having spent somewhere around £40m on the former Watford starlet, the arrival of Bernard on a free certainly makes up for the fact they might have overpaid (in the eyes of some) for the 21-year-old.
During his time in Ukraine, the Brazilian made 157 appearances in five seasons, scoring 28 goals and picking up 35 assists.
