As Benfica prepare to face Philippe Clement’s Rangers in the Europa League round-of-16 this week, the pressure on the Lisbon side is only growing.

Following their 5-0 defeat to Porto at the weekend, we already covered reports saying Roger Schmidt’s job could be on the line unless he beats Rangers and secures qualification for the quarter-finals.

Today, we get to see some more news about the uncomfortable situation at the Portuguese club. The latest comes from A Bola, which say Alexander Bah is doubtful for the Rangers match.

He had already missed the match against Porto because of a foot injury, and hasn’t fully recovered yet, with no guarantee he’ll be ready for Thursday.

Newspaper Record also highlights that Schmidt is expected to make many changes in Benfica’s team for the game against Rangers. It’s said he needs to show he should continue in his position, and after such a heavy defeat, he needs some fresh blood for a good result in the Europa League.

Correio Da Manhã claims there’s been an ’emergency meeting’ between the board and their coach. They made it clear how important Thursday’s match is, expecting an ‘immediate reaction’ versus Rangers.
