With a few clubs changing hands in the Premier League this season, and Manchester United set for a big rebuild, money will be spent this summer.
Newcastle United will be right among those opening their wallet to bolster their squad, already flexing their financial muscle in January, as they signed the likes of Chris Wood, Bruno Guimaraes and Dan Burn to ensure Eddie Howe had the right tool to steer them clear of the relegation zone.
That’s exactly what the Magpies manager has done, and he will likely be rewarded with a lot of money to play with this summer, which will probably see him sign a new striker.
The obvious target after reports of offers already being made by Newcastle in January would be Victor Osimhen, whom Napoli would sell, but only at the right price.
Tuttosport reckon it could even be more than that, explaining that there is a ‘concrete hypothesis that Arsenal or Newcastle bring €120m’ to the Serie A club’s coffers in order to sign Osimhen.
Those kind of fees are reserved for truly special players, and while there’s no denying the 23-year-old is a very talented striker, few would see a purchase at that fee as a good deal.
Osimhen has found the back of the net 16 times this season in 28 appearances, and has impressed, but there will be many on Tyneside hoping €120m could go a lot further than just one player.
