Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona had quietened down for a few weeks.
After there’d been countless Catalan claims of a deal being agreed, there were suggestions the Frenchman could even stay at Atletico Madrid beyond the summer.
Griezmann learned the hard way last year after publicly flirting with a move to Manchester United, not going anywhere, and ending up on the wrong side of the rojiblanco faithful, so now he’s not dropping any big transfer hints.
Despite that, the story has bounced back in recent days and there’s various takes on it all around the Spanish media.
Mundo Deportivo report on Wednesday that Griezmann is Barcelona’s ‘number one goal’ for the summer market, and the groundwork has already been done.
That groundwork was agreeing the general terms of a move with the player’s environment, and now Barcelona just have to contact Atletico.
With a €100m clause on the player, the two clubs can either choose to do things the friendly way or not.
Despite other clubs being interested, with Manchester United and PSG named, it’s stated the footballer has his mind set on Barca and won’t be swayed.
Griezmann wants everything sorted out before he leaves next month for the World Cup.
