Having already bought Frenkie De Jong from Ajax, Barcelona appear to be continuing their midfield rejuvenation, if Euro United are to be believed.
The social media account, ran by those in charge of the now famous Paris United, revealed on Tuesday that the Catalan side were looking into buying Celta Vigo’s Stanislav Lobotka.
According to them, the player’s representatives held a meeting with Ramon Planes, Barcelona’s vice technical director, regarding a potential transfer in the summer.
On top of this, the account explain that Ivan Rakitic is allegedly looking for the ‘exit door’, and has found a potential landing spot at Juventus.
The Barcelona playmaker has reportedly been ‘in touch’ with the Serie A leaders for a few weeks now.
While the two are quite different players (De Jong has more similar stats to Rakitic), buying the 24-year-old from Celta would also help give Sergio Busquets a break, as the 30-year-old has featured in all but one league game this season, starting 27 from a possible 31.
As the Spaniard enters his 30s, sharing his minutes would certainly help prolong his career, and that might be what Barcelona have in mind here.
One to keep an eye on.
