Two days ago, Calciomercato reported Aston Villa have already taken the first step with Denzel Dumfries’ entourage over a potential deal in the summer.
Friday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport talks about Aston Villa’s interest in the Inter Milan player when discussing his contract situation, with his current deal lasting until 2025.
Before Christmas, the right wing-back had requested €5m per year to renew his contract.
The Netherlands international’s camp now seem to have softened their stance, in order to bring the Nerazzurri to the negotiating table.
There’s a stalemate between the two parties and the Aston Villa target’s situation is delicate, also because it could impact the Italian club’s strategies.
There’s a margin for Inter to increase the 27-year-old’s salary from €2.5m to €3.5-4m per year, but Gazzetta say he could be sold to raise funds. This would please Unai Emery’s side if they genuinely want to secure his services.
Without a renewal, the report states the Dutchman will be forced to leave and Inter want €30m for him.
Inter are leading the table and are 14 points ahead of second placed AC Milan. They could possibly secure the title in the derby clash against the Rossoneri later this month.
The newspaper states Inter and Dumfries will reconnect after the title success, and won’t talk about his future before then.
