Aston Villa aren’t only interested in Inter Milan fullback Denzel Dumfries, but are already making the first moves for his signing, according to reports from Italy.
Calcio Mercato today writes that Unai Emery’s side have the player in their sights and now work on his summer arrival.
It’s said Aston Villa have taken the ‘first steps with his entourage’. Even though an offer wasn’t made so far, an attempt ‘cannot be ruled out’ in the coming weeks.
A good reason for the Villans not to place their bid now is that they still don’t know whether they’ll qualify for the Champions League next season, and that obviously has a big impact on their budget.
According to Calcio Mercato, Inter Milan shall consider an offer if it’s bigger than €30m. Especially because they haven’t been successful at renewing his contract, as the player recently demanded €5m per season and they said no.
The problem for Aston Villa is that Dumfries reportedly doesn’t consider the English club at the Nerazzurri’s level, in terms of ‘reputation and ambition’. With Unai Emery’s side unlikely to fight for the big titles, they’d need to work on their arguments to convince him.
