Aston Villa are expected to make a bid for the signing of Porto midfielder Otávio, according to the latest reports from Portugal.
Claims from CNN, now confirmed by Mais Futebol, say that ‘in the next few days’, Steven Gerrard’s side ‘should’ be back for the player with a €30m offer, plus €5m in bonuses.
It’s claimed that the player’s release clause, which stands at €40m until the 15th of June, when it’s raised to €60m, is ‘attractive’ for the English market.
Mais Futebol still makes it clear that Porto won’t make his departure easy, as they already lost Fabio Vieira to Arsenal and are about to sell Vitinha to PSG.
So they turned down €30m for Otávio and should continue playing hardball, as manager Sérgio Conceição ‘doesn’t intend to lose the player’.
The report points out that Aston Villa aren’t the only Premier League side who are interested in Otávio, as the likes of Leeds United and Liverpool also have him ‘in their list’.
In fact, the very same Mais Futebol reported a week ago a €30m bid from Villa rejected by Porto.
Other outlets, at the time, claimed the offer hadn’t come from the Villans, but actually from Leeds.
Now it turns out the website stick to their information and say it’s Steven Gerrard’s side who are keeping the chase going.
