Adrián Bernabé started his football journey with local club Espanyol, before bigger neighbours Barcelona came and snapped him up for their La Masia system in 2014.
Then in 2018, Manchester City were the ones doing the fishing. They took the Catalan midfielder away from home and didn’t really do much with him until his release in 2021.
At that point, Bernabé had probably had enough of being the subject of battles between youth systems without ever getting anywhere, and he joined Parma, who were in Serie B.
From there he’s caught attention from Aston Villa and others.
Tuttosport report multiple clubs, including Unai Emery’s side, are considering making a move for the 23-year-old midfielder.
Aston Villa have sent officials to watch him in action for Parma this season, and Inter Milan and AC Milan are also in the mix. Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are considering taking him back to Spanish football.
Enzo Maresca, who worked with Bernabé at Manchester City, is described as the player’s ‘football father’… so perhaps Aston Villa should be wary of Chelsea throwing him into their recruitment machine.
This looks like a Monchi pick, and Adrián Bernabé appears one to keep an eye on.
