Borussia Dortmund’s Donyell Malen is on the verge of joining Aston Villa.
Earlier today, it was reported talks between the two clubs are in the ‘home stretch’ and the player is already waiting for the move to go through, having agreed terms over a transfer to the Birmingham club.
Dortmund manager Nuri Sahin been speaking at a press conference and insinuated Malen’s move to Aston Villa can progress soon, also revealing that the German giants will be ready for a solution if the forward does indeed depart this month.
He spoke to the press ahead of Dortmund’s game against Holstein Kiel and he was asked about the 25-year-old.
He said, as relayed by Ruhr Nachrichten: “We will do something if the matter with Donyell Malen becomes more concrete. We are ready if something sensible is there.”
Sahin also went on to doubt whether Malen will be available for his side’s game tomorrow.
He said: “The sick players are playing away, they are on the right track. We are training right now and then we have to see who can go to Kiel. Karim Adeyemi, Jamie Gittens and Donyell Malen are also questionable.”
The same report by Ruhr Nachrichten has also revealed that Malen is indeed ‘about to leave’ for Aston Villa.
Sky Deutschland’s Patrick Berger now reports there’s a full agreement between the two clubs.
That consists of a €25m initial payment plus a further €5m in add-ons.
Malen is now not expected to travel for the Holstein Kiel match, out of the squad and waiting for the details to be sorted out on his move to Aston Villa.
