There was once a time that Arsenal was very French.
Arsene Wenger led the way and brought in players from his own country, with a lot of success for the London club. They were somewhat adopted by the French media and to this day L’Arsenal get widespread coverage across the water.
But now things are very different, and Arsenal has a growing Spanish influence, and this is why they’re going for Monchi, explains Calciomercato.it on Thursday.
The Roma Director of Sport has been linked with several Premier League clubs in recent years, it’s an easy rumour to throw out there, but Calciomercato believe there’s something behind it.
They claim the club’s ‘Iberian Soul’ is pushing for the appointment. That Spanish influence would be led by Raul Sanllehi and Unai Emery.
Contacts are said to have been made with the Roma man, and Arsenal are the club most interested, having ‘tested the ground’.
Roma lost 7-1 to Fiorentina on Wednesday evening and are currently fifth in Serie A. The Monchi era isn’t exactly going to plan, and an exit may be possible in the coming months.
