Arsenal defender William Saliba is set for a new loan in January after being left out of the club’s plans this season.
The young centre back arrived at the Emirates this summer, having spent the season on loan with Saint Etienne after Arsenal completed a £27m move last summer.
The expectation had been that he would feature in Mikel Arteta’s plans this season, but that has not proven to be the case.
Saliba is yet to make his Gunners debut and was left out of their Europa League squad, with him instead featuring for the Under 23s.
That’s something he’s reportedly growing frustrated at, and L’Equipe report that he ‘seems to be going through a new loan in January’.
They say that after ‘trying in vain’ to bring him back on deadline day of the transfer window, Saint Etienne ‘would still be interested’.
However, the competition ‘looks set to be tough’ for his signature, with the newspaper hinting that there are plenty of clubs interested, although they fail to actually name them.
With no chances at Arsenal, though, it seems he’s set for a short-term move away to get the game time he needs for his development. Whether that’s back in France or somewhere else, remains to be seen.
