For years and years, we’ve seen Arsenal linked to the Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira. The rumours shows up in basically every transfer window, but for some reason, the Gunners never got really close to signing him.
There have been a few stories continuing to report Arsenal’s interest this season, and the World Cup was seen as another chance for the player to be watched and wanted by the big clubs.
But Danilo has been quite unlucky. The player got injured in the match against Belenenses this Monday, and despite staying on the pitch until the end of the game, the diagnostic was pretty bad. He partially broke his Achilles tendon, which means he’s missing the end of the season and the World Cup.
There’s been nice moves from several players, no matter from which clubs, to support the Porto star in this tough time of his career. But money talks in Portugal, so the matter of a possible transfer being collapsed gets a few lines in the newspapers today as well.
The likes of Diário de Notícias and Jornal de Notícias claim that a summer move is now pratically ruled out, even though this window was seen as a big chance for Porto to make some money with the player.
It seems this is not the year when Danilo will get his Arsenal transfer, and with the player turning 27 in September, we wonder if it will ever happen.
