Roberto Firmino is a player who rarely says something interesting in an interview. As a very shy lad, he normally has basic comments on what he’s asked and that’s all.
But in a special night for Liverpool this Wednesday, there was something that apparently really got the Brazilian striker. And it wasn’t the fantastic 3-0 result against Manchester City.
It was the fans’ reception to the team bus that made Firmino emotional, as the player himself revealed when speaking to the Brazilian media after the game.
“Coming on the bus, I had read that they were going to have a big party. When we came to the stadium, I got, like, I tell you, it filled my eyes with tears, which was very emotional moment for me. And that only gives us more strength to fight on the pitch and win the games”, Firmino told ESPN Brasil.
The players’ view of the reception got quite viral this Wednesday as Liverpool player James Milner has filmed it and posted on Twitter.

Then when commenting on the game, Firmino was back to being Firmino, and didn’t really give a very deep analysis of it.
“I think our team played well, an excellent match. We scored the goals and we managed to hold the game without conceding goals, which is important. But as I said before, there is nothing won, there is the second game, and we have to be focused.”
