Unless you’ve been in hiding for the past few months, you will be aware of the latest Brazilian forward to light up social media and transfer rumours, to the point where he has been linked with Arsenal.

His name is Vitor Roque, and he currently plays for Athletico Paranaense, making him a prime target for a number of clubs around the globe.

Arsenal, led by Edu Gaspar on the transfer market, are among those keen, and the latest instalment in the saga from Sport in Spain mention the Gunners.

That’s because Xavi, at Barcelona, has given the green light to work with the young striker going forward should the club manage to sign him up.

The La Liga side ‘know that Arsenal and Chelsea are pushing a lot’, but they also know they have an advantage on the rest since the 18-year-old wants to play for them as a priority.

This means Arsenal will need to be extra convincing if they want to beat Barcelona to Vitor Roque’s signing, and it’s still not guaranteed the Catalans make a move, as it will also depend on their financial position.

Therefore, the Gunners could have their own advantage, which will be money and the fact they have Champions League to offer next season; something their aforementioned London competition will not be able to provide.
