There’s good and bad news regarding Arsenal’s chase for Thomas Partey coming from the Spanish press today.
AS has a piece detailing Atletico Madrid’s efforts to sign Arkadiusz Milik from Napoli. It’s claimed the Italian side are demanding at least €40m for the striker, and given the big competition for him, it’s unlikely they will drop the price.
That’s why, according to the report, the Colchoneros are thinking of adding Partey to the deal. Since Allan is expected to leave Napoli this summer, then the midfielder could be a replacement for him.
That could sound like a threat to Arsenal, who’ve been following Partey for months now. But things still look good for the Gunners in this battle.
AS says that the London side are still the ‘best placed’ club in the race for Partey. The report highlights that the offer made by Arsenal would see him make three times what he earns in Spain. And it’s very unlikely that Napoli could match that.
So even though the Gunners must stay attentive to what’s going on between Atletico and Napoli, Mikel Arteta’s side still have the lead for the midfielder.
