At the end of October, we relayed news from Italy that Arsenal have joined Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the race to sign AS Roma’s Cengiz Under.
The 21-year-old has found the back of the net on three occasions and set up four more goals for his teammates in all competitions.
According to Calciomercato, the Gunners have decided to focus on the winger in order to strengthen their attack and it’s claimed the player is ‘young and perfect for the Premier League’.
The north London club are now serious about the Turkish international, whose contract with the Serie A outfit runs down in 2022, and he’s currently earning less than €1m per year… which will be after tax.
The report also mentions that Eusebio Di Francesco’s side have not received an offer from the Emirates outfit for their player, but they have no plans to let him leave in January.
Roma are working to extend his contract, which will see his wages increase to €2m and also insert a release clause of €45m.
It should be seen whether Under will accept his employer’s new proposal or reject and look for a new club next summer.
