Bundesliga side Stuttgart remain keen to sign Konstantinos Mavropanos from Arsenal this summer but could face competition from Lazio.
That’s according to Kicker, who provide an update on Mavropanos’ potential return to Germany after his loan spell this season.
The Greek defender has been with the German side since the summer and, after a difficult first half of the campaign hampered by injury, established himself in the second half.
They’re keen to keep him next season, but initially, it appeared Arsenal would not sanction another loan deal, and he would be returning to the Emirates.
The last few weeks have seen that stance change, though, with Mavropanos’ open desire to return seeing reports that Arsenal may now sanction another exit.
Kicker back up that stance, stating that the Gunners have ‘recent signalled their willingness’ to negotiate another loan deal, but this one would include an option to buy.
That’s a deal they’d probably take up, but according to Kicker’s information, there is now competition from Italy in the form of Lazio.
They are ‘one of the clubs interested’ in the Greek international and could rival Stuttgart for his signature as a result.
Either way, Mavropanos has suitors this summer, meaning Arsenal can quite comfortably get some sort of a deal for a player who is seemingly not part of Mikel Arteta’s plans.
