Arsenal are one of the clubs who have looked at Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi in the past few windows. At the start of this year, claims from Spain stated the midfielder had rejected the Gunners in January.
The Premier League side had also looked at the 24-year-old and even showed willingness to bring him to the Emirates in the summer window.
Today’s Sport mentions Arsenal when explaining Barcelona’s desire to sign him after this season.
The Spain international is on the Catalan club’s agenda and is the priority target for them next summer. He has a deal until 2027 and it’s protected by a €60m release clause.
Barcelona, led by their sporting director Deco, are working on various formulas to try to convince La Real’s star to join them.
Zubimendi is calm, like how he was in the summer, when he didn’t entertain approaches from Arsenal and Bayern Munich. Sport state these two sides were ‘in a position to pay €60m’ to secure him.
Although the price quoted in his clause is within Arsenal’s reach, Zubimendi has stated he’s very happy at Real Sociedad, and this would make it difficult for any of the interested clubs to secure his services.
In addition to this, hasn’t pushed for a move to Barca, despite the Catalan media insisting on the desire to sign him.
