Barcelona are in the market looking for a new No 9 after it was confirmed Luis Suárez will be out of action until April.
Mundo Deportivo reported on Tuesday that Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the most liked target by the La Liga winners.
However, the newspaper also explained the Gabon international’s price tag would be too high for the Catalan club and the Gunners wouldn’t sanction the forward’s sale in the winter market.
Wednesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo now claims the 30-year-old is still the preferred choice for the Camp Nou club, but he’s still deemed expensive.
Another Catalan newspaper Sport also has an update on the former Borussia Dortmund man.
They state the north London club have said ‘no’ to allowing their star player leave in the winter market.
It took less than 24 hours for the two publications to rule out Barcelona’s possibility of signing Aubameyang this month.
Aubameyang has 16 goals and one assist in all competitions this season.
