After a week or so of ‘standbys’ and talk of ‘compromises’, it appears Juventus have finally made a renewed offer for Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny as they try and convince the Gunners to sell them their goalkeeper.

The release of the Premier League club’s preseason tour squad list made it very clear the Poland international wasn’t part of Arsène Wenger’s plans next season, and an exit was increasingly likely.

Juventus had, until Monday, only bid around €6-7m, which was well short of Arsenal’s €15m asking price.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport, in their daily updates, made it clear that a middle ground could be found at around €8m, and we even questioned on Monday morning why they hadn’t just upped their offer by €1m or so.

Well, it appears Beppe Marotta and Fabio Paratici heard us, as the very same newspaper on Tuesday report the Serie A champions have put together a renewed bid of €8.5m.

No answer has been given by Arsenal yet, with Juventus waiting on Arsène Wenger’s response, but the more they close that gap, the more of a chance they have of signing their man.

Gazzetta explain Szczesny has been the Turin club’s target to replace Buffon for some time now, with Paratici sending scouts since last spring, and, Wenger permitting, the club should get their man soon.

Let’s wait and see what the answer is.
