Following his winner against Bologna at the weekend, Lucas Torreira has made it very clear that he is happy at Fiorentina and not particularly interested in returning to Arsenal.
After the game, he explained that while his contract is currently with the Gunners, he felt the two sides would ‘certainly’ reached an agreement to transfer him permanently to the Serie A side.
The Uruguay international is now a key member of Vincenzo Italiano’s side, scoring three goals and picking up one assist in 27 games so far this season in all competitions, which is the amount of game time he wants as a player and why he’s seeking to stay, away from Arsenal.
He said, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb: “My agent met with the Fiorentina people last week. I’m very happy in Florence because I can feel the trust of the club and the manager. Today I belong to Arsenal, and I need to evaluate many things, but I’m very happy here.”
It’s a similar message to the one he gave after the game, which reinforces the idea that he wants to move away from Mikel Arteta’s squad, where he has found little luck over the past few years, spending last season on loan at Atlético Madrid, for example.
