João Félix’s potential departure from Atletico Madrid seems to have become a serious topic in the Spanish media in the past couple of days, with big outlets such as AS and Cadena SER reporting that the player could leave in January.
The 22-year-old is said to be unhappy with his role under Diego Simeone this season, with his entourage now looking for options so he can show his potential somewhere else.
And according to the latest update brought by Cadena SER, Arsenal and Newcastle United are two of the options that Félix now has on the table.
Their report (via AS) claims that Gunners and Magpies are two of the four Premier League clubs who have ‘asked’ about his situation.
There’s good and bad news for Newcastle there. The story says they’re the club with the best offer, but also the option that Félix likes the least.
The attacker’s agent Jorge Mendes is now working on those options, while Atletico Madrid chairman Miguel Angel Gil told him to ‘bring the money’. The Colchoneros will analyse a potential January sale once the representative comes up with the offers.
The report doesn’t say how much each club is willing to offer for Félix for now. It just seems that while Arsenal should raise their bid, Newcastle must have stronger arguments to convince him of a move.
Manchester United and Liverpool are the two other clubs.
