Arsenal man ‘has a favourite place’ in club’s ideas – Transfer complicated despite Gunners openness

Inter Mian are eyeing up a move for Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, who is the current ‘favourite’ among the Italian side’s management.

That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say Inter are keen on a defender and Tomiyasu is the man they would like.

They explain that Inter directors Piero Ausilio and Giuseppe Marotta are working to add a defender to Simone Inzaghi’s squad and the man who ‘has a favourite place’ in their minds is Arsenal’s Tomiyasu.

They’re aware any deal for the full-back wouldn’t be easy, despite the fact that Arsenal have not made him non-transferable or anything of that nature.

In fact, they are open to doing a deal for the Japanese international but would only sanction a permanent exit and have never opened up to the idea of a loan deal.

That’s something Inter cannot do and they are unwilling to go beyond the loan deal. Thus, there is something of a complicated negotiation between the two sides.

At this point it cannot be considered ‘a closed track’, far from it, but if Tomiyasu is going to make the return to Italy this summer, then the two sides have plenty of work to do.

Arsenal are said to be open to the deal, though, and Inter Milan are keen, so expect to hear plenty more about it before the end of the transfer window.
