Napoli should hurry up in case they want to keep Faouzi Ghoulam at the club for next season. As reported by Calcio Mercato, the player’s current situation has been attracting the eyes of several sides from Europe, and the summer should very interesting for him.

According to the website, negotiations for a new contract stopped months ago. Both the player and Napoli have taken a break from the talks, although it’s said that Ghoulam’s wish would be to stay at the Serie A side.

Meanwhile, European clubs are aware of the situation. Calcio Mercato mentions Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid all as potential sides who could try to take him soon. But just a few days ago, the talk was completely different. Italian outlet Rai claimed the interested sides were Manchester City, Paris Saint Germain and Bayern Munich.

Tottenham aren’t in need of a left back, either to start or as back-up. Danny Rose is Mauricio Pochettino’s undisputed number one choice, and there’s plenty of other options for Spurs.

Arsenal would be more likely, with a shake-up at left back not looking like the worst idea for the summer. Kieran Gibbs and Nacho Monreal aren’t the highest of quality, but then there’d be a question over whether Ghoulam is significantly better.

As Ghoulam’s contract expires in 2018, it’s a matter of renewing his contract or selling him in the summer. The left-back cost Lazio only €5m when signed from Saint-Étienne in 2014, and the Italian club could surely make more now.
