On April 8th, we covered claims from France that Arsenal were one of the clubs interested in signing Jordan Veretout from Fiorentina this summer.
Since moving from Aston Villa, the midfielder has progressed with the Serie A side and there’s been endless claims about a move elsewhere in Italy.
It was explained Fiorentina would be looking for €25-30m to sell the Frenchman.
There were then some claims in the Italian media, backing up interest from Arsenal, before everything went quiet.
Sunday’s edition of L’Equipe brings it all back to life. The French newspaper explains the Gunners have made contact, just a simple enquiry at this stage.
AS Roma and Sevilla are also said to have approached Italian agents dealing with the player’s future, with clubs wanting to ‘estimate the cost’ of a summer transfer.
Veretout is said to have ‘fond memories’ of England, from his time with Aston Villa. However, he’s targeting a club in the Champions League as he looks to convince Didier Deschamps to call him up for France.
