While the futures of Arsène Wenger, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil have been at the forefront of the Arsenal based press, one man has been largely ignored.
The reason for this is that he isn’t actually at the club at the moment, but he remains contracted to the Gunners, on loan at Roma.
Wojciech Szczesny has spent the past two seasons with the Serie A team, performing admirably along the way.
However, it appears that his time there is coming to an end.
According to Il Messaggero on Wednesday, Roma have made a decision, and that is to move on from the 27-year-old to focus on Alisson as their number one goalkeeper in the near future.
That means Szczesny, still blocked at Arsenal by Petr Cech, will need to find himself a new club, with an option in Italy available to him.
The same report explains that Napoli are looking at the Poland international for the post-Reina era, and could make a move once the club have sorted out the futures of their stars Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens.
As things stand, Aurelio de Laurentiis and his staff are trying to find out what Arsenal’s intentions are, as well as their valuation of the remainder of Szczesny’s contract at the Emirates.
With just one year left on his deal with the Gunners, Arsenal aren’t exactly in a position to ask for a lot…
