Arsenal have ‘expressed interest’ in signing Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot in the winter market, claims Foot Mercato.

The Gunners appointed Mikel Arteta as their new manager on December 20th and Pep Guardiola’s former assistant wants to ‘inject new blood’ into the north London club.

Arteta is counting on his new employer to invest in January and he believes signing the former Paris Saint-Germian man will be the best bet to bolster the Premier League side’s squad.

It’s claimed Arsenal contacted the midfielder’s mother, Véronique Rabiot, who is also his agent, to check if they can sign the 24-year-old on a loan deal. The report doesn’t mention whether or not Véronique has responded to the English side’s request.

Foot Mercato adds Arteta needs to convince the Serie A winners why they need to allow their player go out on loan.

Any potential move to Arsenal in January remains difficult because Juve’s plan is to retain Rabiot and instead allow Emre Can to leave the club.

Rabiot has started in seven matches in all competitions this season and majority of them came since November.
