On Friday, we covered a report from Brazil saying Arsenal have reached a verbal agreement to sign Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano.

Journalist Jorge Nicola, from Yahoo, said the Gunners are only waiting for the youngster to get his EU passport so they can announce the signing.

Although it wasn’t a story which spread through other Brazilian outlets, website Futebol Interior brings a very similar article today.

They say that ‘according to Martinelli’s agent’, the player is in advanced talks with Arsenal to represent the club in the second half of 2019.

It’s said that club and player would already have a verbal agreement, and would be waiting for the passport to be sorted, just like Nicola claimed.

Futebol Interior adds that Arsenal have been following the player since the U-20 Cup in January, and their bid would be of R$35m (£6.5m).

The expectation, according to the website, is for things to be done before the end of April.
