When it comes to Arsenal transfer rumours, you’ll likely be hearing the name Dominik Szoboszlai a lot in the build-up to January.
The RB Salzburg forward is one of the hottest properties in Europe at present, certainly the hottest in Austrian football, and another impressive start to the season has seen the rumour mill heat up.
Arsenal are believed to be chief among his suitors, with his agent, Mátyás Esterházy, confirming earlier this month that their interest in the player is real.
That was followed by a report in Gazzetta Dello Sport that that same agent is talking to Arsenal about a potential deal, but there was a queue forming.
Every indication has been that the 20-year-old will be on the move in January and Salzburg 24 provide further evidence that is the case today.
They report that the player’s lease on his apartment in the Liefering district of the city is set to expire at the end of the year and an extension ‘should not be an issue’.
In other words, he’s not planning on extending the lease on his current home, hinting he’s planning on signing a new one somewhere else in the near future.
Where that is remains to be seen, but it seems suggestions from Germany that Arsenal have already been beaten may not be entirely correct.
SportBILD reported this week that RB Leipzig were planning a move and that Szoboszlai would be joining the Bundesliga club in a €20m deal.
That’s something his agent has denied, telling Index that “Dominik Szoboszlai has no agreement with Leipzig or any other club, except, of course, his current association, Red Bull Salzburg.”
The newspaper added that the player’s manager explained that the issue of a transfer does not concern ‘his client or himself’ at this moment in time, with the player instead focused on Hungary’s matches.
That should come as positive news for Arsenal, who it seems still have a chance of getting a player they are clearly interested in.
