Arsenal are one of several Premier League sides to have been linked with Bordeaux’s Malcom since the January transfer window. The Brazilian impressed in the first half of the season but wasn’t allowed to leave in the winter market.
Now Bordeaux are looking to raise funds and Malcom is the most obvious option. A problem for the French side is the attacker not having a great second half of the season, which has inevitably seen some of the interest slip away.
Whereas at one point a €40m asking price seemed perfectly reasonable, L’Equipe point out things are now quiet and there’s no club looking like they obviously want to pay that.
As for Arsenal, the club’s interest appears to have dropped irrespective of Arsene Wenger leaving his position as manager.
Unai Emery will know Malcom better than most having seen him at close quarters in Ligue 1, but he wouldn’t be impressed with the club’s general scouting report.
L’Equipe report Arsenal asked Gilles Grimandi to find out about the player’s character, and then decided to drop their efforts for Malcom.
