There seems a growing chance Ricardo Pereira will be a feature of the summer transfer window, even more so than last time.
During the last summer market, the FC Porto right back, who can also perform on the left or as a winger if required, was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
Mauricio Pochettino was looking to add a right back and Pereira looked a really good option. The Portuguese press were convinced there was something in it and Tottenham were said to have made an offer, valued at €12-15m in Portugal, but that wasn’t enough.
Now, with Tottenham still named as interested by Sunday’s A Bola, Arsenal have also been brought into the picture. Arsene Wenger leaving the club may not mean there’s a whole load of new transfer targets on the way, especially with the off the pitch changes at Arsenal in recent years.
Hector Bellerin perhaps has a higher ceiling than Pereira, but the Spaniard has stuttered this season, and much of last, and isn’t quite progressing as quickly as he once was.
A Bola believe both Arsenal and Tottenham wouldn’t have a problem with the player’s €20m release clause, yet it must be said that figure has been reported as higher several times, even by A Bola themselves.
