As the Italian media continues to speak of Victor Osimhen’s potential departure from Napoli this summer, it’s interesting how Arsenal are starting getting more mentions as a potential destination for the striker.

This morning, newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport featured a piece about the clubs who could land the 23-year-old.

When speaking of Arsenal, they explain that the club must confirm their place in the Champions League, so they get the financial conditions to bid for the player, but they are also ‘the English club that has so far come forward in the most concrete way’.

The outlet pointed out that Napoli will indeed have to sell some of their ‘jewels’ this summer, and with Osimhen being the biggest of them, the club shall demand over €100m for his transfer.

Another comment on this chase now comes from Radio Marte (via Area Napoli), where Sky Sport market specialist Luca Marchetti talked about the player and Arsenal’s interest in him. He was another one who pointed out the importance of the Gunners’ place in the European competition so they can afford the signing.

“Arsenal are on the player, but they have to wait for the Champions League to hit to make the investment more bearable. Offers of 70 million, De Laurentiis would not even take them into consideration and would not sit down to negotiate.”

Still, Marchetti pointed out Napoli shouldn’t even sell Osimhen.

“I would never sell him in life, if I want to continue to follow the growth process that would lead me to be competitive in terms of the league. Yesterday, however, De Laurentiis made it a matter of accounts, of money: Napoli are out of the league. Over €200m and, as wages, he spends more than Milan. The Nigerian is among the most attractive players on the market. The intermediaries do their job.”
