Italian striker Andrea Belotti’s impressive form for Torino this season means the 22-year-old has been linked with a move to several top European clubs.
A couple of days ago, we reported Arsenal’s interest in Belotti, as it was claimed Arsene Wenger had been ready to spend €35m on the Torino star.
Obviously that wasn’t the end of it. Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport on Thursday reiterate Arsenal’s interest in the forward, who has 8 goals and 4 assists to his name this season.
Gazzetta say Arsenal came up with the ‘richest offer’ of €35m for Belotti in the summer, but there was little time to consider the deal.
The Serie A club would’ve weakened their own team, if they’d had sold Belotti to Arsenal, given it was so late in the transfer window.
It’s been reported Torino are looking to renew Belotti’s current deal, with a release clause for foreign clubs, and Gazzetta expect it to be more than €50m. If he does go, that want him to leave Serie A, and to be sure of receiving a huge fee.
The Serie A club are ready to make Belotti the highest earner at the club, after the player also impressed for Italy with three goals in five appearances.
Should Wenger and Arsenal be interested again, then it’s likely they’d have to stump up more than they were previously prepared to.
