Arsenal were looking at the option of signing Ousmane Dembele in the summer, according to reports, but Barcelona decided against sanctioning his sale before the start of the season.

After a good start to this campaign, the France international slowly faded away from the starting lineup.

Catalan newspaper Sport claims the Gunners are not oblivious to the World Cup winner’s situation at the Camp Nou, which is why they have ‘asked again’ about the player ahead of the mid-season transfer window.

Unai Emery is ‘interested’ in the forward, who already has ‘good friends’ at the Emirates, including his former Borussia Dortmund teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and it could be vital in convincing the 21-year-old to join them.

The two sides share a good relationship due to the presence of the north London club’s chief, Raül Sanllehí, who joined them from Barcelona.

However, it could be difficult for the Premier League outfit to bring Dembele to Arsenal at the start of 2019 because Ernesto Valverde’s side are unlikely to sanction his sale in January.
