Arsenal are ‘anxiously awaiting’ news regarding Orkun Kökcu’s negotiations with Feyenoord over a new contract.
The Turkish midfielder has been linked with a move to the Emirates since the beginning of last month, with reports claiming they were eyeing up a move before Euro 2020.
That’s been followed up by further claims they were competing with Chelsea for his signature and had even sent people to Rotterdam to watch the 19-year-old in action.
Feyenoord are desperate to keep their man and according to Voetbal International, are trying to tempt him into signing a new deal at the club.
They are planning to make another attempt to get that done this week, and it’s explained Arsenal and Sevilla are ‘anxiously awaiting’ the outcome of the negotiations.
Feyenoord want him tied down to a new, longer deal and have sat down with him previously but been unable to find an agreement on an extension.
In the meantime interest in him is increasing, with it claimed Arsenal and Sevilla have been ‘talking to the technician for a while.’
Naturally, they are keen to know of any developments regarding a possible new deal as, should the player fail to reach an agreement with the Dutch club before the summer, the chances are that they will sell the midfielder.
