Earlier this week, Schalke’s Ralf Fährmann cut short his loan stay at Norwich City and joined Norwegian side SK Brann on a temporary deal.
The 31-year-old made only one appearance in the league for the Canaries because Daniel Farke preferred Tim Krul. The Dutchman’s future at Carrow Road beyond this season could be uncertain, if reports are to be believed.
According to SportBild, the former Newcastle United man has emerged as a target for Schalke.
The Bundesliga side’s manager, David Wagner, is believed to have ‘campaigned’ for Krul to be a backup option at Schalke.
It’s claimed the Netherlands international wants to leave Norwich if they’re relegated to the Championship. Farke’s side are currently bottom of the table with 21 points, trailing 17th placed Watford by six points.
With Alexander Nübel already agreeing a deal to join Bayern Munich, Wagner will be left with Markus Schubert and Fährmann as the two goalkeeping next season.
Therefore, Schalke could look to bring in a new custodian and it remains to be seen whether it will Krul or another player.
