Diego Costa has ended his holiday in Brazil and is on his way back to reality. And it could be a very awkward reality.

On Tuesday Spanish newspaper Marca reported that Costa wanted to avoid the ’embarrassment’ of starting preseason training with Chelsea, knowing it would be awkward. With the Spain international making it clear that Antonio Conte wants him out, starting training again with Chelsea isn’t the ideal scenario.

Of course, the ideal scenario is moving to Atletico Madrid, even if that means not playing until the January window, Costa’s hamstrings would probably like that idea too.

Spanish newspaper AS say there’s no Atletico agreement with either Chelsea or Costa, but hope that things could happen soon. Diego Simeone really wants the deal done, and that means Atletico will do all they can to sort it.

Atletico are working ‘slowly but steadily’ on the transfer, and could be helped by Conte’s own impatience.

AS say Conte is pushing for the Romelu Lukaku situation to be sorted out. The Everton striker may not have been Conte’s first choice, but he doesn’t want to lose out on him too.

Chelsea are now pressured to actually make their Lukaku offer to Everton, something expected to be over €100m.

AS believe that means Chelsea will be more focused on sales, including Costa.
