Alvaro Morata’s future remains in doubt for the Spanish media, and Marca have a look at the situation in their Sunday edition.
Zinedine Zidane would be happy to keep the striker for next season and would try and give Morata more minutes and a bigger prominence within the squad, and therefore team, but an exit isn’t completely ruled out.
With Morata’s move to Manchester United now almost certainly dead, Marca have brought Chelsea back into the picture. It’s stated that Morata is the ‘express request’ of Antonio Conte, and the Italian wants to see him signed.
Chelsea made several efforts to sign Morata during the last summer window, something confirmed by the player himself, but this summer were more strongly going for Romelu Lukaku.
There were suggestions, understandable ones, that Conte always preferred Morata and it was Chelsea as a club pushing for Lukaku.
Conte could end up with neither, Real Madrid are unlikely to collapse their price for Morata.
With Diego Costa’s future still to be resolved, Chelsea’s striker problem is growing, and whilst splashing out for Morata would please Conte, it may not be what the club want.
There’s no Spanish update on Danilo to Chelsea on Sunday.
