Sao Paulo manager Rogerio Ceni has insisted youngster Pablo Maia hasn’t received a proposal amid recent reports of interest from Fulham.

Maia has been linked with a move to the Premier League since the summer, when it was reported that Nottingham Forest were keen.

Fulham have since pushed themselves to the front of the queue for his signature and a report yesterday made it clear they were chasing him and one of his teammates.

That was quickly followed by another report claiming that they were ready to pay €6-7m, although it will take a figure closer to €10m to get a deal over the line.

Whether they will go that high remains to be seen but the interest is certainly there from Fulham and a move in the January transfer window is looking increasingly likely.

Ceni has spoken to calm the rumours for now, though, insisting he is unaware of any proposal for the player to leave the Brazilian club as yet.

“If Pablo Maia has an extraordinary proposal, it’s cool for the club and for the boy, but I don’t know of any proposal for Pablo,” Ceni was quoted as saying by BolaVIP.
