Anel Ahmedhodžić spent three seasons at Nottingham Forest before returning to Malmö FF in January 2019.

The 21-year-old failed to get opportunities with the Championship side as he made only one appearance, which came against Newcastle United in December 2016.

Having struggled to make his mark in England, the defender has established himself under the guidance of Jon Dahl Tomasson at Malmö and his impressive performances in 2020 have caught attention from clubs across Europe.

Earlier today, we covered claims from Calciomercato explaining that Chelsea and AC Milan have the centre-back on their transfer lists and he’s valued around €10m.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international’s father, Mirsad Ahmedhodžić, has claimed his son’s agent, Markus Rosenberg, is blocking the player from getting a move to Chelsea. Mirsad even took to Facebook last week to suggest his son’s representative is creating a division within the family.

The Malmö star has quickly dismissed the comments by his father and revealed he has never had support from Ahmedhodžić Sr. Anel also claimed his father caused issues during his time with Forest.

“He writes different stuff, especially on Facebook. It’s not the first time he’s [done something like this],” Anel told Kvällsposten.

“He was at it too when I played at Nottingham Forest, he wrote in some forums there and it has always affected me negatively. I’ve always been criticised for that.”

“But I will still help my family in every possible way I can. I always have. I will always, as long as I can, help my family financially, especially my mother. My mum’s always supported me. It’s because of her that I feel good in my head.”
