Alex Telles to Wolves appeared as a story pushed by social media last week. In what looked to be fake transfer news the fullback was said to be of interest to the Championship side.
Portuguese newspaper O Jogo covered the fuss the claims had caused, explaining the Telles to Wolves rumour ‘couldn’t find much echo’ in Portugal.
But then The Sun covered O Jogo’s claims and completely misrepresented them, turning the Telles rumours into a battle between Wolves, Chelsea and Liverpool.
That seems to have then ended up back in Portugal, as A Bola have an article linking all three clubs. The Wolves suggestion isn’t laughed off, which shows how the club are now seen on the transfer market.
Impressive moves for the likes of Ruben Neves and Rafa Mir have changed the perception of what Wolves can achieve in the market… but that doesn’t make the Telles rumour true.
If this has all come from a fake social media rumour, with The Sun then ignoring O Jogo talking it down, and it then all ending up back in Portugal, it’s quite clearly nonsense.
Once a transfer rumour is born, it’s almost impossible to kill it.
