It’s not often Sheffield Wednesday transfer news pops up in Italy, but Tuesday evening is one of those occasions.

TMW have a story about the Championship club, and it sounds like more than a usual transfer rumour.

According to the Italian website, Alessio Da Cruz is on the verge of signing for Wednesday.

The 23 year old attacker currently plays for Ascoli, where he’s been on loan from Parma since the summer. Ascoli have an option to buy, which they must be ready to give up.

TMW say Sheffield Wednesday will be signing Da Cruz on loan until the end of the season, at which time they’ll have their own buying option with Parma.

The Dutchman is expected in England on Wednesday to have a medical with the Yorkshire club and sign his contracts.

In 18 matches this season, across Serie B and the Coppa Italia, Da Cruz has six goals and seven assists.
