Real Sociedad have joined Valencia in the chase for Bryan Gil, and on Monday, Cadena Ser reported La Real contacted Tottenham Hotspur to learn the conditions to take the player on loan in the winter market.
Since arriving at the north London club last summer, the 20-year-old has struggled for playing time. He’s been restricted to only three starts and all of them came in cup competitions.
Mundo Deportivo now claim the La Liga side are set to be without Ander Barrenetxea for the rest of the season and have ‘sounded out’ Antonio Conte’s man. The first contact has been of ‘mutual appreciation’.
Imanol Alguacil’s side will be able to add a young Spain international to their squad and a possible transfer to the San Sebastian club ‘attracts’ him.
The ‘first condition’ for Gil to leave the Premier League side is that Spurs must sign Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Adama Traoré. The negotiation is on the ‘right tack’ and once the deal for the winger is finalised, then Spurs will let their own player go out on loan.
Gil spent a season on loan at Eibar and is now ‘attracted by the interest’ of Real Sociedad as joining them will given him an opportunity to return to the Gipuzkoa area. They are not alone as sources consulted by Mundo state there are other clubs with ‘more powerful interest’ than La Real.
Mundo, however, explain ‘one of the greatest advantages’ for Real Sociedad is that Gil’s agent also represents David Silva. The relationship between the club and the agency is ‘cordial’.
Gil’s ‘only priority is to play’ and have an important role in the second half of the season. His environment knows Real Sociedad can offer a good opportunity to ‘rescue’ the winger from ‘English ostracism’. However, a potential operation will not be resolved immediately, and that’s down to the Adama Traoré situation.
