Emre Can to Juventus is a transfer saga that has gone on way too long and if the reports coming out of Italy this morning are to be believed, we are at the end of it.
The German international’s contract at Liverpool will run down after the end of the season and he’s already decided against signing a new deal.
According to Calciomercato, Can had given his word to Juventus just before Christmas that he will join them this summer.
Despite the subsequent confusion whether Can will join Juventus or not, the report claims the midfielder is “man of his word” after agreeing to join the Serie A leaders. He will become the Turin club’s first signing of the 2018/19 season.
In the ‘past few hours’, Can’s agent has confirmed to Juventus via email that his client’s intention remains to join the club , and he’ll visit Turin to complete the transfer soon.
The Liverpool player will sign a five-year deal with the Coppa Italia winners and earn just over €5m-a-year. The only thing that is pending is the player signing the contract and Juventus announcing the transfer.
Can wants to wait until Liverpool finish their season, which will be after the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kiev on 26th May. He wants the official communication to be made after that as a mark of respect for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
This has all been going on for so long that everything has already been claimed several times, but the email slant is new and would suggest Juventus have had any worries eased.
