Paolo Hurtado is really not keen on returning to Reading, his agent has confirmed.
The midfielder, who has just spent a season on loan at Vitória de Guimarães, is said to be happy in Portugal and wants to remain there.
Representative Elio Casareto has spoken to Jogo, and claimed that he should become aware of Reading’s decision in the coming week.
“Next Wednesday, I’ll be in England to have a meeting with the Reading representatives and know what’s their position regarding Hurtado,” Casareto told the Portuguese outlet.
The agent also revealed the player is either staying at Vitória or returning to England, because there isn’t any other competition: “There are no other offers and he would like to stay in Portugal. He’s very happy at Vitória.”
But despite the player’s desire, it’s Reading who will take the decision, since his contract with the Royals runs until next year. The agent said “it’s all open,” for now.
“It’s not new that Vitória de Guimarães are interested in renewing, but it depends on the club who the player belongs to.
“Honestly, I don’t know if there’s a chance. They still haven”t told me about the possibility of extending the loan to Vitória. Let’s wait.”
In April, reports from Portugal and Peru linked Hurtado to Bournemouth and West Ham, saying the original claims came from England. However, we’ve checked the local outlets and there wasn’t a single story about it.
