The agent of Everton attacker Gerard Deulofeu has told the Italian media a return to AC Milan is out of his control. The Spaniard spent the second half of last season on loan with the Serie A side, and a return has been much rumoured.
Speaking to TMW, Gines Carvajal was asked if his client will be returning to Italy next season: “I can’t answer that myself, the decision is not up to me. The involved parties are Everton and Barcelona, these two clubs will decide the boy’s future. I do not know, really. We just have to wait.”
On Tuesday, we covered a report from Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo which stated Carvajal is angry about the situation, because Barcelona had informed Everton of their will to use the €12m buyback clause without getting a ‘yes’ from the player’s side.
Wednesday’s edition of Marca reports similar, and also states the Everton player found out about Barcelona’s push forward from the media.
Signed by former Everton manager Roberto Martinez from Barcelona in 2015, under current boss Ronald Koeman the 22-year-old struggled to get playing time last season. The winger made just eleven Premier League appearances for Everton, which were mainly coming off the bench, and then tried to make the most of his Milan loan.
Should Deulofeu agree a return to Barcelona the deal needs to be completed by June 30th, when the buyback clause with Everton ends.
