The agent of Alexandru Maxim has been asked by the German media about Leeds United’s interest in his client. The Romania international has been linked with Leeds United and also Mexican side Club America in recent weeks.

Speaking to Bild, Herbert Briem was quizzed on whether Maxim would play in the second tier of English football with Leeds United. Briem said at the moment his situation is fine at Stuttgart, but he doesn’t believe the German club have total confidence in the midfielder.

However, Briem believes Maxim’s position at Stuttgart can change, and that the player has the quality to achieve this.

“I advise Alex to play football where you have the highest requirements and where they believe in him. These conditions are in Stuttgart. The belief is currently not 100 percent there. But there are many situations that have changed completely in a short time. Alex has the quality of being a top player,” said Maxim’s agent on a move to Leeds United.

Leeds United held talks with Briem earlier in the transfer window with regards to a move to England. The player has fallen out of favour with Stuttgart coach Hannes Wolf, who would consider selling the Romanian.

Leeds United boss Garry Monk has tried to sign Maxim in the past when he was the manager of Swansea City, and could make another attempt to land the attacking midfielder in this window or the summer.
