Southampton beat Premier League champions Leicester City 3-0 at the weekend, which sees Claude Puel’s men rise to 11th in the table.

Claudio Ranieri’s side haven’t woken up from their fairytale slumber and now face what’s looking like a genuine relegation battle.

There’s no such worry for Puel, and James Ward-Prowse got the Southampton performance off to a good start with a goal within the first half hour. It was the 22 year old’s first goal in 22 games and his performance has brought wider recognition.

Each week Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport pick out a selection of the best eleven performers from around Europe, whilst ignoring their own Serie A.

The midfielder extended his contract with Southampton in May 2016 and it now runs until June 2022, so if Ward-Prowse’s performance has caught the eye of any clubs, they’d have a struggle getting him away from his current club.
