Some Chelsea fans may remember that a couple of weeks ago, the Blues were linked to Estoril winger Chiquinho.
It’s been claimed by the Portuguese media that the Stamford Bridge side ‘should win’ the race for the player after making him an attractive offer.
Now even though footballers are all quarantined, Estoril are still doing press conferences on live chats, and Chiquinho took part in one last night.
One of the questions was obviously about the interest from Chelsea, and the 20-year-old talked about how glad he is to be involved in such rumour.
“At this point, I just have to continue doing what I like: playing. Then it’s up to my agent and the club to decide what is best for me. But it’s a great pride to be linked toChelsea,” he said (via Record).
That original story from Record came from nowhere, and sounded pretty confident that Chelsea would beat West Ham to get Chiquinho.
However, despite talking about the offer The Blues made to the player, there had been no details on how the negotiations with Estoril had been, or how much the English side would pay for the transfer.
As we pointed out last week, it’s unusual for big Premier League clubs to be linked to players from the Portuguese second division, so we’ll need more before buying this story.
